My new year was spent in several parts of Louisiana. For actual New Year’s Eve, a big group of us went to New Orleans. I had never been to New Orleans before (well technically I went when young, but I don’t remember), so I was really excited. We didn’t have much time there, so we basically stayed in the French Quarter area. It was so much fun. We spent New Year’s Eve at Pat O’Briens, then walked down to the river to watch the firework show. I LOVE fireworks. Probably one of my all-time favorite things. Then on new years day, we basically walked around all day, eating everything. I swear I left at least 5 pounds heavier.
After New Orleans, we drove to Baton Rouge for a wedding. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. It was held at the Nottoway Plantation, about 30 minutes outside of Baton Rouge. So fun!
I had such a good time and got to try all sorts of yummy food. I am certain of one thing though, I absolutely must find a killer bread pudding recipe. SOOOO good! I especially like bread pudding that has a little chocolate mixed up in it. My new mission for 2010 will be to perfect my bread pudding. 🙂
Christmas was wonderful. Wes came home with me until the 23rd. It was a really nice time, with the highlight for me being to get to go to the beach. The weather was pretty nice for the whole vacation time. I sure do miss 75 degree winters. I’m back in Dallas now where it is about, oh, 26 degrees today, with a windchill in the teens. Ugh! I know I shouldn’t complain because it is -47 where my Grandma lives, but still, I am not meant for the cold!! It sure does make it hard to exercise. Lizzie and I went for a short little 2.5 mile run yesterday and I’m pretty sure she was upset with me. I guess Lizzie doesn’t like working out in 35 degree weather either. Too bad.
I am not much of a gym person. I hate the idea of having to wait in line to use a treadmill, and then get stared down because you ran on it for a little over 30 minutes. Not my thing… So, instead, I go to Camp Gladiatior. Love it!! Yes, it is a little bit chilly, but the workouts are great. Totally gets my competitive side going. And after my holiday season, I definitely need a butt-kicking. Check it out if you want an awesome, diverse workout!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful new year filled with everything that makes you happy. Yay 2010!!
