A Book Review: Trust Your Eyes

Well I’ve got another positive book review for you. Surprise surprise.

I promise there are books out there that I don’t like. I just haven’t read any recently.

On the plane ride back from Saskatchewan, I finished Linwood Barclay’s Trust Your Eyes. I read it cover to cover in about four, maybe five hours. Clearly the book moves at a great pace and keeps the reader fairly involved.  The pages practically turned themselves.

Trust Your Eyes isn’t necessarily the type of book I would usually read. Don’t get me wrong, I love “thrillers” and books that are filled with mystery and anticipation. I just don’t have much time to read them. Most of my reading occurs at night, and well, thrillers just aren’t the type of book a person with a highly active imagination should read before bed. With that said, I am so glad I decided to sign up to read this book for Blogher.

As I previously mentioned, the book moves quickly. It is, without a doubt, gripping, and completely reels you in. Without giving too much away, the premise of the book is of two brothers who start to live with each other in their father’s home after his death.  One brother suffers from a certain mental illness that keeps him house-bound throughout the majority of the book, although he does occasionally venture out.  Each page adds more and more mystery to the story, keeping you engaged and wanting more.

And the ending… oh the ending.

You’ll just have to read it to find out! And I do definitely recommend reading it.  For more discussion or to hear what other people thought, check out Blogher’s page.
