How to get a homemade mantle: Lindsey’s version

Step 1: Tell boyfriend you would like mantle on your fireplace to hang Christmas stockings from in November

Step 2: Strategically balance heavy Christmas stocking holder on already existing small fireplace ledge while decorating for the season.

Step 3: Try to catch heavy Christmas stocking holder as it falls to the ground, miss the catch, and take note of the small dent caused in beautiful wood floors.

Step 4: Reiterate to boyfriend that you would like a real mantle for decorating purposes.

Step 5: Go to bridal shower and spend several hours with friends

Step 6: Come home, mantle complete.

Isn’t it beautiful? Wes did such a nice job.  And the process wasn’t as easy as I made it sound. It definitely did not just happen in a couple hours since there was quite a bit of drying time involved.  However, he did start this project on Saturday and it was dry and ready for installation Tuesday night. But, I’ll ask Wes to give me the real details behind the making of the mantle.
I can hardly wait for Christmas to come!
