After two very fun, very humid days in Houston this weekend, I am quite happy to be back in my little Dallas bubble. Wes and I are both very fortunate to have some very close friends in the Houston area who we got to spend the weekend with. And we also got to catch up with his family; lots of ground was covered in those two days.
We found out Suzie is terrified of horses this weekend. Good to know. The amount of barking that ensued upon arriving at our friend’s house was borderline ridiculous. Thank goodness the neighboring houses were quite a distance away. They would have been less than pleased with Suzie’s antics. It did make for great entertainment though. It also made me revert back to my five-year old self and go into full on “I want a pony” mode.

I kid. I kid. Just all the more reason to go and visit my friend more often!
Saturday night we had a homemade pizza party, which involved about 5 different kinds of pizza, including one deep dish. Pretty impressive. Adam and Lauren showed us the proper use of a pizza stone and other necessary gadgets for proper pizza making. You can bet I’ll be adding those to the registry.
Now, after a fairly indulgent weekend, I’m trying to reel my diet in a bit. Which basically means I’ll try and not eat ice cream every day for dessert for the next few weeks. This will be a challenge.
There will also be a few more smoothies on the menu. Today’s smoothie was a newbie.
I’ve actually never been a cherry vanilla coke fan, but I figured I might like it in smoothie form. And guess what? I did!
Although fresh cherries are divine, frozen cherries are definitely the way to go when it comes to smoothie making. So much less hassle!
Go ahead and plan on making one soon. So refreshing.
Now I’m off to do the very nasty job of cleaning up the mess my dog created by knocking over a very full trash can and shredding everything inside of it while I was at work. Thanks Suzie.
I love her but something tells me I’ll love her more tomorrow after I’ve had a night to recover from this.
- 1 cup frozen cherries
- 1½ cups water
- 4 ice cubes
- Dash of vanilla
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (your choice of brand)
- 1 tsp Chocolate PB2
- Put all ingredients into the blender and blend until creamy and smooth.
